Friendship is an Answered Prayer

HOSTED By Thato

When I think of friendship, I think of community. Throughout life’s many seasons, I have also come to appreciate how vital it is for one to have a sense of belonging to navigate the ebbs and flows that come with the human life experience.

Contrary to popular belief, I am in fact a girl’s girl. I am, however also very guarded. As a result, those whom I have come to call friends, I consider family. I will admit that I am not so big on “squad goals”, I prefer to establish deep and lasting connections. I therefore have friendships across the board, some stemming from early childhood; defying time and distance. I cherish these individual connections. Friends for each season. Those I consider mentors and my accountability partners. And others, a divine connection – my kindreds.

All these relationships are hallmarked by one common factor and that is how spending mutual time together intuitively feels good and effortless.

Currently in my mom and homemaker phase, I am particularly devoted to preserving the kind of relationships that can accommodate the realness that comes with this transition. A safe landing space, a support system, a sounding board, genuine connections in which I recognise in others, true reciprocation.

If you ask those close to me, they may describe me as the nurturing friend. A motherly figure. I love taking care of others and I am incredulously over-protective. In the same breath First name, I have also been dubbed the ‘no-nonsense’ friend. Haha! This is a title I have since come to accept as it is in knowing this; that I have also come to appreciate that those who choose me, have taken the time to truly understand me, beyond face value and those are my people!

“Friendship is also an answered prayer. Friendship is also a type of blessing. Friendship is spiritual. Friendship heals.” Ehime Ora
